I created for an itch game jam based on waves. I used enemy spawning as my own interpretation of waves as they get bigger over the time limit, making it difficult for the player as the rounds increases.

This is the main menu user interface I created for my prototype as it has a start button which starts the game, an options button which goes to the options menu to optimising the game and the quit button for quitting the game.
